Police in Namwala District of Southern Province are looking for a 35-year-old man identified as Hachikuyu Moonga for the alleged murder of his uncle on suspicion that he burnt his house.

Moonga is alleged to have beaten his 60-year-old uncle identified as Patient Moonga on Monday around 19:00 hours using sticks.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo said the victim sustained a fractured left leg, a deep cut on the right leg and on the forehead.

She said the body has been deposited in Namwala District Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.

Katongo said the suspect is on the run and police have launched investigations.

She has since appealed to members of the public with information on the whereabouts of the suspect to report to any nearest police.

Meanwhile, Katongo said a Lion in Nfuwe District of Eastern Province attacked and killed a 21-year-old man identified as Anthony Chibulu of Smart Village, Chief Kakumbi of Mambwe District.

She said the incident occurred yesterday around 12:00 hours and the lion had consumed almost half of the body. And Katongo said the remains are in Kamoto Hospital mortuary.
